Sales (Re)structuring & Selection in Almere
Why here
In Almere this is usually not a restructuring but a first build. The owner sells himself, does it well, and has never written down how. The moment he hires, that becomes a problem: there is no conversation arc to hand over, no definition of a good lead, and no agreement on when something is lost. The new rep fills the vacuum himself, underperforms, and is gone within a year. We reverse the order. First we extract from the owner what he actually does, meaning which companies he approaches, which questions he asks and where he walks away, and cast that into stages with an exit criterion. Only then do we derive the role profile and sit in on the selection interviews. The first hire then steps into something already running.
No list of offices — just honesty: we work remote-first and come on-site where it truly matters, by plane if that is what it takes. Travel costs are charged on.
Our approach
Observation comes first: we sit in on conversations, read back a year of proposals, and note what the owner does without ever naming it. That becomes the first version of the process, in stages with an exit criterion each. Then we write the role profile that follows from it, including the behaviour we want to see during selection. Recruiting only begins once that is settled.
Frequently asked questions
-
I bring in most of the work myself. How do I hand that over?
Not in one conversation, and not by having someone shadow you. Handover works when you break your way of working into steps somebody else can repeat: who you approach, what you ask first, where you decide to continue or stop. Writing that down feels redundant right up to the moment you have to explain it to someone else.
-
What do I do with the rep already in post who is not delivering?
First establish whether he failed or whether there was nothing to step into. You see that difference within two weeks: put him into the new process, with fixed questions and a weekly walk-through of his pipeline, and watch whether the behaviour changes. If it keeps stalling at the same step, it has become a selection question and we deal with it as one.
