Sales in Brussels

Brussels is a market of head offices, federations, financial institutions and European bodies, where a single deal crosses three languages and several layers of decision-making. Dcraft Of Sales builds prospecting, sales structure and closing for B2B organizations selling to purchasing departments, public buyers and international leadership teams. Remote-first, and at the table in Brussels when a deal calls for it. Here, the language of the first contact often decides whether there is a second one.

No list of offices — just honesty: we work remote-first and come on-site where it truly matters, by plane if that is what it takes. Travel costs are charged on.

The market

Brussels is layered, administratively and commercially, in a way nothing else in the Benelux is. The Leopold quarter holds the European institutions, surrounded by a dense layer of federations, trade associations, law firms and public affairs agencies; their buying runs through formal procedures with fixed submission deadlines and written question rounds. In the Northern quarter and along the inner ring sit the offices of banks, insurers, telecoms operators and international head offices, where a Belgian management team decides inside a framework set somewhere else. Alongside that runs an entirely French-speaking SME market and, around Da Vinci Research Park in Haren and Greenbizz in Laeken, a smaller layer of technology and circular-economy firms. An approach that only works in Dutch rules out most of the conversations here.

The sales reality here

A sales process designed around a single decision-maker stalls in Brussels. There are three: a user who wants it, a purchasing department that guards the procedure, and a management team or foreign head office that releases the budget. Talk only to the first and you hear months later that the file went quiet. Language sits on top of that: prospecting in Dutch alone halves your reach, and a French-speaking prospect who receives a Dutch email usually does not reply. We build follow-up per role, with a separate line into purchasing, and we record which language each contact is approached in.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do we need to prospect in French to reach Brussels?

In many cases yes, and certainly for first contact. Part of the Brussels market works in French, part in English through international leadership teams, and part in Dutch. We decide per account list which language applies and make sure follow-up happens in that same language. Translated template emails are spotted immediately; what matters is salespeople who can genuinely hold the conversation in that language.

  • Can you help us with European or public tenders?

We do not write tender submissions and we do not act as lobbyists. What we do is the commercial work that sits before publication: mapping which departments prepare a contract, making sure your solution is known before the specification is fixed, and structuring follow-up around the fixed moments in such a procedure. Once a tender is published, the room to sell is limited to whatever the procedure allows.

  • Our Belgian office reports to a head office abroad. How do you handle that?

Then two sales tracks run at once: one into the Belgian organization and one toward the people who grant the mandate. We first map where the decision actually lands and what kind of justification is expected there, usually in English and in a different format from what is normal locally. Then we plan follow-up on both lines, so the local sponsor is not left to make the internal case alone.
