Sales in Hasselt

Hasselt is the business center of Limburg and a reconversion economy: where coal mining fell away, technology, healthcare and logistics took its place. Dcraft Of Sales builds prospecting, sales structure and closing for scale-ups on the campuses and for family firms setting up their first real sales team. Remote-first, and at the table in Hasselt or Diepenbeek when a deal calls for it. In the Euregio, every growth step immediately becomes a cross-border question.

No list of offices — just honesty: we work remote-first and come on-site where it truly matters, by plane if that is what it takes. Travel costs are charged on.

The market

Limburg rebuilt its economy after coal mining disappeared, and Hasselt is where that shows. Corda Campus, a former industrial site on the Kempische Steenweg, holds a dense concentration of technology and services companies; in neighboring Diepenbeek sit the university's science park and BioVille, focused on biotech, medtech and digital health. The province also remains strong in logistics, construction and installation engineering, with many second and third generation family firms. Hasselt itself is a regional retail and services center on top of that. Because the city sits in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion, Dutch Limburg is commercially closer than West Flanders, and the German market is a realistic next step.

The sales reality here

Two patterns keep coming back in Limburg. The first is the campus scale-up that grows on the founders' and the investor's network until that network runs out; nobody has ever prospected in a structured way, and the first attempt feels awkward. The second is the family firm that always managed without selling because customers called in, and that now has to hire someone from outside its own trade for the first time. In both cases the trap sits at the border: claiming to serve the Benelux usually means one salesperson doing three markets by halves. We force that choice into the open before anyone is hired.

Frequently asked questions

  • We are based on Corda Campus and grow through our network. When do you switch to structured prospecting?

At the point where you can no longer explain where the next ten customers will come from. Network growth feels effortless but is unpredictable, and on a campus your reach looks bigger than it is because everyone already knows everyone. The first step is usually small: work out which customer profile actually returns most, build a real list of them, and test one approach thoroughly instead of four superficially.

  • We also want to sell into Dutch Limburg and Germany. Can the same team do that?

The same team can, the same approach cannot. Dutch Limburg is close by but buys differently: more directly, with more weight on comparability and with different purchasing habits. Germany additionally expects German-language follow-up and references from its own market. Our advice is to pick one clear segment per market and work it fully, rather than approaching three countries at once and none of them properly.

  • Our family business has never actively sold. Where do we start?

With what is already there. In a company running on inbound demand, most of the commercial knowledge sits with people who would never call themselves salespeople: the project lead, the technician, the internal desk. We capture that knowledge in a workable process first, with clear agreements on follow-up and quotations. Only then comes the question of whether to add a salesperson, and which profile fits this particular customer base.
